Pursuing a BS in Environmental Engineering with minors in Spanish & Humanitarian Engineering.

Currently in the 3rd year of a 5 year track.

Environmental Engineering

With a strong focus on sustainability in their work, environmental engineers focus on the development of technologies and services which work to improve both the environment and public health. Sustainable project management and implementation is crucial to this field for all stakeholders involved.

Examples of the applications include projects in water quality management, air pollution control, ecological restoration, waste management, climate change and more.

As one of the fastest growing fields, environmental engineering is striving to create a sustainable, healthy future in all aspects of societal infrastructure.

Humanitarian Engineering

HE focuses on the design and creation of products, processes, & services which promote human welfare & standard of living, typically focused toward underserved and/or low-income communities. These services are often affordable, potentially low-tech, & always economically efficient for the communities whom they benefit.

Examples of these affordable developments include technologies for clean water & sanitation, non-polluting lighting/heating/cooking methods, off-grid electricity generation, shelter, healthcare and more.

One of the biggest developments of the past 20 years in the humanitarian field is effective communication with the communities an organization is working with. Too often, organizations 'parachute' into communities with a false idea of what can be done to improve the lives of the locals. There is an endless amount to learn from talking and working with these communities.

Spanish

As the one of fastest-growing languages, being able to understand and communicate in Spanish is an invaluable skill to have. Learning another language eliminates one of the biggest barriers between people who come from different communities across the globe.

Reading, writing, & speaking Spanish allows me to further my connections with people and companies whom I would have otherwise been unable to effectively communicate with.
